Schedule: Part Time/32 hours Day Shift

United Health Services is looking for and hiring a Physician Practice Registered Nurse at Wilson Medical Center to support Pre-Admission Testing and surgical needs.

The Physician Practice Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance to all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services Hospitals and Nursing Division policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates clinical training, orientation and ongoing evaluation of new/existing clinical staff as well as completion and submission of clinical competencies at time of hire and annually.

  • In collaboration with the unit coordinator, coordinates clinical schedules, ensuring appropriate clinical support.

  • The RN provides clinical leadership while overseeing the scope of practice of LPN’s and Medical Assistants in the office.

  • Triages and assesses patients for early identification of signs and symptoms to prevent complications and ensure timely intervention.

  • Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.

  • Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.

  • Maintains CLIA Waived Lab standards and performs CLIA Waived Lab testing and oversees proficiency validation according to regulatory standards. Includes oversight of tri-annual AAFP Lab Proficiency testing, lab quality controls and lab credentialing.

  • Collaborates and leads patients, families, and all members of the health care team in coordinating patient care.

  • In collaboration with the Office Supervisor/Unit Coordinator, participates in and facilitates Performance Improvement activities, monitors PI data and assists with the development of Performance Improvement plans.

  • Collaborates with Office Supervisor/Unit Coordinator to promote and facilitate the compliance and understanding of Joint Commission, NYS DOH, Infection Control and all regulatory standards.

  • Participates in educational opportunities and in collaboration with the unit coordinator, assists in providing information updates and acts as a resource for all clinical staff.

  • Participates in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise develops.

  • Will perform other duties as assigned

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.

  • At least 1 year experience in health care setting with evidence of having obtained proficiency in those areas emphasized in the Registered Nurse curriculum.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a walk in / primary care/ specialty care setting.


License/Certification

Minimum Required:

  • Current NY State RN license.

  • Documentation of current CPR certification required within 1 week of start of employment.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an office environment that requires working in proximity to other employees and patients.

  • The office is air conditioned as well as heated.

  • Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants.

  • Fast-paced environment including frequent interruptions.

  • Frequent sitting, walking, standing and bending.

  • Possibility of lifting of patients.

  • Mobility may include access through a multi-level facility, including climbing stairs.

  • PPE- Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, Gloves per UHS Infection Control and CDC guidelines when appropriate.
